Job summary

The Ministry of Highways is seeking a Safety Training Manager to lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Safety Training Program. Reporting to the Director of Fleet Programs, you will review training requests, handle complaints and devise comprehensive solutions to improve safety practices.

The ideal candidate will bring knowledge of Adult Education best practices, OH&S regulations and related standards, with credentials such as NCSO or CRST, and several years in safety

Job description

The Opportunity:

The Ministry of Highways is seeking a highly motivated individual who is innovative and a strategic thinker to manage the Safety Training Program. Reporting to the Director of Fleet Programs, the Safety Training Manager is responsible for the implementation of the Ministry Safety Training Program, reviewing all training requests, complaints and developing broad-based solutions to address them. You will actively lead the research, design, development, implementation and evaluation of equipment and operational training programs to support safe and effective job performance.

Our candidate of choice will have knowledge of Adult Education best practices, Highway Traffic Act, Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and Regulations (The Saskatchewan Employment Act, and the Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety Regulations) and numerous other standards associated with occupational health and safety. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills to be able to present information and respond to questions from stakeholders, managers, and employees.

Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position would be obtained through the completion of a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or equivalent, as well as several years' experience working in a safety professional training role. The knowledge required for this position would typically be obtained through an Adult Education certificate or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) or OHS-related certification from a recognized educational/certification institution. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
