The Role
The Rabbit Lake Safety Department is looking for someone with industrial or mining experience and a passion for promoting and supporting workplace safety to join our team. Working under the supervision of the Safety Officer, you will play an important role in ensuring the safety of workers and promoting safe work practices across site. Duties will include performing workplace inspections, maintenance and testing of safety systems and equipment, including emergency response apparatus. You will help ensure the safety of workers by spending time observing, coaching, promoting, training and enforcing the use of safe work procedures and application of safe work practices. When safety incidents or workplace injuries occur, you will provide support in reporting, investigations and developing corrective and preventative actions. You will help in the development, review and revision of safety procedures, work instructions and communications materials and will support workplace health and safety through education and training activities. You will also provide important support to the emergency response and fire protection programs, including participation as an active member of the emergency response and mine rescue team (ERT/MRT).
In this role, you will:
-Directly support the safety, fire protection and emergency response programs as a member of the Safety Department and as part of the Safety, Health, Radiation, Environment and Quality team
-Conduct workplace inspections and audits
-Inspect and maintain health, safety, fire protection and emergency response equipment
-Issue impairment notices, hot work and confined space permits
-Attend toolbox and safety meetings and present on relevant safety topics
-Assist in the delivery of safety-related training programs and participate in incident investigations and job hazard analyses
