The Safety Program Advisor is a technical expert in the health and safety field, leading the development of safety programs aligned with business priorities and objectives. The Safety Program Advisor is a change champion and project lead, engaging with stakeholders across the organization to promote a safety-first culture.
Key responsibilities include :
- Research and develop safety programs in collaboration with the safety team and operations.
- Engage with stakeholders and Safety Program Specialists to draft safety program content.
- Conduct information sessions to introduce new safety programs to staff and operations teams.
- Lead project teams and working groups to implement safety strategies and initiatives.
- Support field safety staff in program implementation as a subject matter expert.
- Ensure safety programs comply with regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry standards.
- Participate in safety committees to support the delivery of the Safety Management System (SMS).
- Assist in developing and revising SMS documentation, including Job Safety Analyses and Safe Work Practices.
- Participate in SMS audits and safety program evaluations.
- Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and monitor safety KPIs.
- Follow up on investigations and safety issues, ensuring timely resolution.
- Prepare and share safety communications and reports to promote safety performance.
- Manage safety software and programs such as ISNetworld, Cority, and SafetyHub.
- Support safety and storm response activities as needed.
Skills and Qualifications :
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a relevant field, with safety certifications preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in a health and safety role.
- CRSP or CRST designation is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
Technical Skills
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
