Job summary

Magna International in Concord, Ontario is seeking a Health & Safety Coordinator to oversee OH&S programs, investigations, and inspections. You will support the HR team on safety matters, coordinate training, and help maintain safety communications and procedures across the facility.

The role requires 1–2 years of health & safety experience in manufacturing, a Grade 12 diploma plus OH&S certification, and strong knowledge of Ontario OH&S Act requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum completion of Grade 12 diploma
• College/University designation in Occupational or Public Health & Safety
• Joint Health and Safety Certified Member Certification
• First Aid and CPR Certified

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the responsibilities for improving the quality of work life for all employees with respect to environmental, ergonomic and health and safety programs
• Coordinate accident/incident investigations and provide effective follow-up for corrective actions
• Conduct monthly workplace inspections and ensures compliance with all legal requirements
• Function as a resource to the Joint Health and Safety Committee and coordinate follow-up actions to committee’s recommendations; prepare, post, circulate minutes
• Respond to plant safety concerns and provides counseling for hazard recognition
• Work collaboratively with HR team to support business needs on various H&S, environmental and ergonomic matters
• Ensure H&S Communication boards and electronic outlets are kept up-to-date and relevant
• Participate in new employee orientation – presenting H&S section
• Prepare and present H&S slides in monthly Employee Meetings
• Update H&S, environmental and ergonomic procedures, instructions and forms; ensure control and availability for use, in a timely manner
• Perform review of H&S documentation (policies, WINs, forms) at prescribed intervals
• Facilitate the Ergonomic Program
• Arrange, track and log internal and external Occupational H&S training for employees, ensuring renewals are attained on-time
• Conduct audits/inspections and make recommendations for improvements
