Job summary

Nurse Next Door is seeking Registered Practical Nurses to join our Oakville/Burlington team and help seniors live Happier Aging at home. The role offers flexible hours from 10 to 40 hours per week, with shifts in the morning, afternoon, evenings, and overnights, and competitive wages with 4% vacation pay.

You will provide meal preparation, light housekeeping, companionship, and nursing tasks under the client care plan, including medication administration, wound care, vital signs, and liaison

Qualifications

• Must be able to speak and write in English.
• Valid CNO license.
• Background check with Vulnerable Sector Search updated every 5 years.
• Negative TB test updated every 5 years.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide meal preparation, light housekeeping, and companionship.
• Nursing tasks include medication administration, wound care, head to toe assessment, vital signs, pain assessment, and liaising with physicians.
• Enable seniors to live at home by executing the client’s care plan per the Care Designer.
• Assist with ADLs within the scope of practice for a Registered Health Care Aide.
• Assist transfers, ambulation, and prescribed exercises.
• Ensure safety and proper use of equipment; complete records accurately.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide meal preparation, light housekeeping, and/or provide companionship and personal care.
• Nursing tasks include - medication administration, wound care, head to toe assessment, vital signs, pain assessment, liasing with physicians, diabetic management

• Execute on the client’s care plan as outlined by the Care Designer.
• Help clients with their ADL's (Activities of Daily Living) that is within the scope of practice for a Registered Health Care Aide.
• Assist clients with transfers, ambulation and exercises.
• Meet the safety needs of the client and use equipment safely and properly.
• Function within the limits of your own experience and knowledge, while practicing safely and competently within the job description.
• Complete records and documentation accurately and thoroughly.

Requirements:

• Previous nursing experience is an asset.
• Ability to identify and report client care concerns to Care Designers when needed.
• Must be able to speak and write in English. Other languages will be an asset.
• Valid CNO license
• Background or Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search (updated every 5 years for continued employment)
• Negative TB test (updated every 5 years for continued employment)
• Ability to work a variety of shifts ( including evenings and weekends)
