Job summary

Nurse Next Door is seeking caring Registered Practical Nurses to support seniors at home across Ontario. The role offers flexible 10–40 hour per week schedules with morning, afternoon, evening, and overnight options.

Compensation includes $31.68 per hour plus 4% vacation pay, with local office support for scheduling and care questions. This position emphasizes Happier Aging and high-quality home care delivery.

Qualifications

• Registered Practical Nurse with valid CNO license.
• Must be able to speak and write in English; other languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide meal preparation, light housekeeping, and companionship and personal care.
• Administer medications, perform wound care, head-to-toe assessments, vital signs, and pain assessments.
• Coordinate care as outlined by the Care Designer and implement the client care plan.
• Assist with ADLs within the scope of practice for a Registered Health Care Aide.
• Assist clients with transfers, ambulation and exercises.
• Ensure client safety and proper use of equipment.
• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide meal preparation, light housekeeping, and/or provide companionship and personal care.
• Nursing tasks include - medication administration, wound care, head to toe assessment, vital signs, pain assessment, liasing with physicians, diabetic management
• Happier Aging is at the heart of what we do - enabling seniors to live at home as long as possible, doing what they love to do.
• Execute on the client's care plan as outlined by the Care Designer.
• Help clients with their ADL's (Activities of Daily Living) that is within the scope of practice for a Registered Health Care Aide.
• Assist clients with transfers, ambulation and exercises.
• Meet the safety needs of the client and use equipment safely and properly.
• Function within the limits of your own experience and knowledge, while practicing safely and competently within the job description.
• Complete records and documentation accurately and thoroughly.

Requirements:

• Previous nursing experience is an asset.
• Ability to identify and report client care concerns to Care Designers when needed.
• Must be able to speak and write in English. Other languages will be an asset.
• Valid CNO license
• Background or Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search (updated every 5 years for continued employment)
• Negative TB test (updated every 5 years for continued employment)
• Ability to work a variety of shifts ( including evenings and weekends)
