Job summary

Southlake Health is seeking a part-time Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in Newmarket, ON, to join our care team. The role emphasizes patient- and family-centered care within the RPN scope and collaborates with RNs and the broader health-care team to support complex cases.

The ideal candidate holds an RPN diploma, current BLS, and an active RPN certificate of registration in Ontario. Pediatric experience within the last five years is required, with NR P or breastfeeding course prerequisites.

Qualifications

• RPN diploma from a recognized school of nursing.
• Current BLS Certification required.
• RPN Certificate of Registration, in good standing, from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Recent pediatrics experience (within the last five years) required.
• NRP certificate required or willing to obtain within three months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient and family-focused care within the RPN scope of practice, per hospital policies.
• Ensures practice aligns with competencies, standards, guidelines, and legislation.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team.
• Collaborates with RNs to care for patients with complex health issues.
• Works with interprofessional team to deliver care.
• Provides consultation and clinical support to peers as needed.
• Contributes to patient health status assessment and documentation.
• Assists in Plan of Care development and evaluation.
• Supports orientation/preceptorship of new staff and students.
