Job summary

Ornge is recruiting a Rotor Wing Touring Captain to lead flight operations across Ontario bases. The role requires holding a Canadian ATPL (H) with extensive rotary-wing hours, PIC experience, and a valid AW-139 rating. Team leadership and adherence to safety SOPs are essential.

The position offers a two weeks on / two weeks off touring rotation, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for career advancement within a mission-driven organization.

Qualifications

  • Valid Canadian ATPL (H).
  • 2000 Rotary-wing hours Total Time.
  • 500 hours PIC multi-engine.
  • Two years’ experience in Instrument Flight Operations.
  • Valid Group 4 Instrument Rating.
  • Valid Class 1 Medical.
  • AW-139 Type Rating, Pilot-in-Command AW-139, NVG, and EMS experience desirable.
  • Ability to complete the Controlled Goods Security Assessment for Night Vision Goggle purposes.
  • Valid Canadian Passport or ability to work in Canada and travel to USA.
  • Criminal record search is a requirement.
  • Immunization records are a requirement.

  • Position Title: Rotor Wing Captain (Touring Pilot)

  • Touring Pilots Total Salary Range + Per Diems, Travel + Vacation: As Per Collective Bargaining Agreement (OPEIU) Effective January 1, 2026, the base salary range is: $132,019.73 - $153,024.24. The total compensation is approximately $171,921.27 - $195,385.73
  • Location(s): All Ontario Bases: Kenora, London, Ottawa, Sudbury, Thunder Bay, Toronto, Moosonee
  • Touring Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On and Two (2) Weeks Off Touring Rotation
  • Reporting To: Chief Pilot, Rotor Wing

Rotor Wing Pilots are responsible for all aspects of aircraft operation, must be able to fly in varying conditions, handle pressure well and be flexible and adaptable. Ornge aircraft are province wide resources and aviation personnel may be required to provide flight support at bases other than the home base where demand arises. All Ornge pilots are required to complete the company’s training program and successfully pass a Transport Canada PPC. They are responsible for following all applicable policies and Standard Operating Procedures. The Second-in-Command (SIC) assists the Pilot-in-Command with the flight planning and Aircraft preparation as directed by the Pilot-in-Command. They are responsible to the Pilot-in-Command for carrying out specific duties in connection with the operation of the aircraft to which they are assigned.
