Span Medical Products Canada (SMPC) services nursing homes in the North American market and has been a supplier of medical devices for 104 years. Our facility, located in Ontario's wine region at Beamsville, employs over 100 associates and specializes in metal fabrication, welding, robotic welding, painting, and assembly within a 50,000 square foot space. We are transitioning into lean manufacturing and developing products on-site. We foster a growth-oriented team environment that supports employee development.

Position Summary

We are recruiting a Robotic Welding Programmer/Supervisor for our afternoon shift, Monday to Thursday, 3 pm to 1 am.

Responsibilities

  1. Manage workflow in the robotic welding department, monitor process steps, assign personnel, ensure smooth operation of robotic welders, and perform programming adjustments and minor maintenance during shifts.
  2. Support manufacturing PPAP requirements by coordinating activities among Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Operations.
  3. Lead manufacturing staff by setting job expectations, planning, monitoring, appraising results, training, coaching, counseling, and managing performance; enforce systems, policies, and procedures.
  4. Respond to Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) with root cause analysis and coordination across functions during investigations.
  5. Conduct daily team huddles, communicate goals, review safety inspections, and address safety hazards and expectations.
  6. Maintain a safe and clean work environment through education and proper use of equipment and resources, ensuring compliance with policies.
  7. Maintain positive relations with the union by adhering to the collective bargaining agreement terms.

Mindset, Skills & Education

  1. Energetic, eager, and tenacious attitude.
  2. Minimum of 5 years experience in programming, troubleshooting, and operating Robotic Welding Cells, preferably with Yaskawa.
  3. Supervisory experience managing processes and sheet metal manufacturing is preferred.
  4. Proficiency in ERP data entry, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  5. Strong verbal and written communication skills across all company levels.
  6. Excellent time management and dependability.
  7. Availability to cover alternate shifts on short notice occasionally.
