Position Highlights

We are looking for a Road Safety Data Advisor to provide strategic analysis, advice and performance insights that strengthen road safety planning and decision-making. In this role, you will work with internal teams, governmentpartnersand other interest-holders to translate complex data and research into clear, practical recommendations. You will help evaluate road safety initiatives,identifyemergingtrendsand communicate evidence in a way that supports action.

Road Safety Data Services supports evidence-based decision-making through road safety analytics, mobility insights, performance measurement, data governance, research, and stakeholder engagement.

The team works with internal and external partners to understand road safety challenges, evaluate interventions, identify emerging risks, and improve mobility outcomes across British Columbia. Success in this role means influencing strategic and operational decision-making through trusted advice, meaningful evidence, and actionable insights that contribute to safer roads, improved mobility outcomes, and stronger partnerships across British Columbia.

What You Will Do
  • Provide strategic advice on road safety priorities, programs and emerging issues using data, research and jurisdictional evidence.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal teams, government partners, researchers and other road safety interest-holders.
  • Develop performance measures, KPIs, scorecards and reporting approaches that assess whether road safety initiatives are achieving intended outcomes.
  • Analyze collision, injury, program and other relevant datasets to identify trends, risks, opportunities and areas requiring further investigation.
  • Evaluate programs and interventions, synthesize findings and recommend improvements based on evidence.
  • Translate complex quantitative and qualitative information into clear insights, options and recommendations for leaders and decision-makers.
  • Prepare concise reports, dashboards, briefing material and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Represent the organization in working groups, committees and interest-holder discussions, facilitating dialogue and contributing a credible road safety perspective.
Position Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of road safety principles, programs, Safe System approaches, performance measures and leading practices, as well as transportation and mobility trends.
  • Experience analyzing complex data, interpreting findings and providing evidence-based recommendations to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Knowledge of performance measurement, outcome-based management, program evaluation methodologies and research methods.
  • Experience developing and using KPIs, scorecards, evaluation frameworks and performance reporting approaches.
  • Strong business analysis, interest-holder engagement and facilitation skills, with the ability to build consensus among diverse groups.
  • Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and communicate analytical findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with dashboarding and reporting tools such as Tableau, QuickSight, Power BI or similar platforms.
  • Experience using SQL and other analytical tools to extract, analyze and interpret data.

A university degree in statistics, economics, transportation, public policy, public health, business, socialsciences or a related discipline, together with relevant professional experience in data analysis, performance measurement, program evaluation, research or strategic planning. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

  • Hybrid 8 – you will work a minimum of 8 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia. Please note there are updates to the hybrid model, starting September. This role will be moving to 2 days per week in office.
