Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide direct resident care, administer medications, and document care in compliance with regulatory policies. You will collaborate with the DHW/DOC, coordinate care plans, and supervise unregulated care providers to ensure safe, patient-centered outcomes.

This role emphasizes leadership in care coordination, emergency response, and education for residents and families, with opportunities for professional growth in a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse in the applicable Province/State.
• Experience working with seniors and unregulated care providers.
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care is an asset.
• Strong written and oral communication, critical thinking, care coordination, time management and customer focus skills.
• Sound clinical knowledge and ability to delegate to unregulated care providers.
• Competencies per governing College standards.
• Proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office applications.
• Current (within 6 months) VPS.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct resident care and medication administration.
• Complete and update care assessments, service plans and documentation.
• Coordinate care conferences and participate in conferences.
• Supervise care and medication administration by Unregulated Care Providers.
• Coordinate resident care assignments and nursing team schedules.
• Respond to changes in resident condition and medical emergencies.
• Coordinate Infection Prevention and Control, Health and Safety, and Clinical Programs.
• Supervise nursing students and coordinate their scheduling.
