Job summary

Extendicare is hiring a part-time Registered Nurse to provide direct resident care and medication administration in our long-term care homes in Canada. You will document care per Extendicare standards and coordinate with the Director of Health and Wellness and the Director of Care to ensure high-quality resident outcomes.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse in applicable Province/State.
• Experience with seniors and unregulated care providers.
• Gerontology/rehabilitation or long-term care experience asset.
• Strong written and oral communication, critical thinking and care coordination.
• Ability to delegate to unregulated care providers and maintain competencies.
• Computer skills and Microsoft Office proficiency.
• VPS clearance within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Complete and maintain residents’ care assessments, service plans and documentation.
• Assist with scheduling care conferences and participate in them.
• Collaborate with DHW/DOC for move-ins, transfers and billings.
• Order and safeguard drugs and administer per regulations and policy.
• Educate residents and families; supervise self-medication assessments.
• Coordinate nursing team assignments for timely resident care.
• Respond to condition changes and medical emergencies promptly.
• Supervise delegation to unregulated care providers under policy.
• Coordinate infection control, health/safety, clinical programs and quality plans.
