Job summary

Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, Ontario, is seeking a Temporary Part-Time B Registered Nurse for the ICU. The ICU handles cardiac, medical and surgical patients requiring close monitoring and specialized care.

Ideal candidates hold CNO registration, Critical Care certification, ACLS and are experienced with mechanical ventilation. The position includes 12-hour shifts, weekend work, and potential for the Government loan forgiveness program.

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing.
• Critical Care Certificate or willingness to obtain within 1 year of starting in the ICU.
• Recent experience with mechanical ventilation and defibrillation.
• Coronary Care 1.
• Post diploma courses through Community College in Cardiology and Physical Assessment.
• Current Certificate of Competence.
• Current CPR Certification on hire.
• Critical Care experience within the last five years.
• Proven cardiac rhythm interpretation and patient assessment skills.
• Current I.V. Therapy and Medications certification - hemodynamic intravenous medications.
• Proven effective organizational, prioritization, critical thinking, time management, problem solving skills.
• Current ACLS certification required.
• Must fulfill physical demands of job per Physical Demands Analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with all levels of staff, patients and the public.
• Must be compliant with College of Nurses Quality Assurance Standards.

Department/Unit/Program Description

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) serves mainly cardiac, medical, and surgical patients requiring close monitoring and observation. Admissions to ICU occur when an individual experiences a heart attack, chest pain, difficulty breathing, and if intensive observation is required. Patients are closely monitored using special equipment in a quiet atmosphere.

Position Summary

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is seeking a Temporary Part-Time B Registered Nurse to join their team.

Effective Date: October 5, 2026

Ending on or before: March 30, 2027

Essential Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing
• Critical Care Certificate or willing to obtain within 1 year of starting in the ICU
• Recent experience with mechanical ventilation and defibrillation
• Coronary Care 1
• Post diploma courses through Community College in Cardiology and Physical Assessment
• Current Certificate of Competence
• Current C.P.R. Certification, on hire
• Critical Care experience, within the last five years
• Proven cardiac rhythm interpretation and patient assessment skills
• Current I.V. Therapy and Medications certification - hemodynamic intravenous medications
• Proven effective organizational, prioritization, critical thinking, time management, problem solving skills
• Current ACLS certification required
• Must be able to fulfill the physical requirements of the job, as per current Physical Demands Analysis (i.e lift, turn, transfer patients manually and with assistance)
• Demonstrated ability to deal effectively and co-operatively with all levels of staff, patients and the public
• Must be compliant with College of Nurses Quality Assurance Standards

Preferred Qualifications

• Epic trained or ability to train and pass testing

Hours of Work

Must be available to work 12 hour day and night shifts, Monday to Sunday. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the ONA collective agreement.
