Risk Advisor

AtkinsRéalis is one of Canada's largest private sector nuclear engineering groups, providing a wide range of services to the nuclear industry in Canada and globally for over 60 years. We are proud to be the steward of Canadian CANDU nuclear technology.

Location – Mississauga, ON

As a Risk Advisor, you will plan, coordinate, and document the project risk management process. Your strong facilitation and quantitative analysis skills will ensure risks are identified, evaluated, quantified, mitigated, and monitored following corporate policies and procedures. You will collaborate with functional areas to identify opportunities for improving business processes and increasing efficiency.

Your role within the team:

  1. Risk Workshops:
    • Lead risk identification workshops with various project team levels.
    • Collaborate with management and joint venture partners on risk mitigation strategies.
    • Monitor risk mitigation efforts with the project team.
    • Coordinate with planners to understand delivery expectations, identify potential risks, and link risks to schedule activities.
    • Maintain an accurate and current project risk register.
  2. Risk Reporting & Quantitative Analysis:
    • Analyze risk and safety data to identify trends and focus areas.
    • Enhance risk reporting through statistical analysis.
    • Prepare progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Generate lessons learned reports related to risks.
    • Conduct risk evaluations using qualitative and quantitative methods.
  3. Risk Management Process Activities:
    • Own and develop risk management plans for proposals and projects.
    • Coordinate with the Engineering Risk and Insurance group to define insurable risks.
    • Provide risk management training as needed.
    • Continuously seek improvements to the risk management process.
    • Support project peer reviews related to risk management.
    • Administer and implement risk management activities in line with best practices and corporate procedures.
    • Utilize corporate systems and tools to support risk management processes.

The ideal candidate:

  • Has 3-5 years of risk management experience and 8+ years in the Engineering and Construction industry, including Project Management, Contract Management, Engineering Management, Project Controls, or Procurement Management.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Skilled in tools like Excel, PowerBI, and risk analysis software such as @Risk, Safran Risk, ARM, Acumen, or Primavera Risk Analysis.
  • Possesses excellent analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Has persuasive and motivational abilities.
  • Excellent facilitation skills.
  • Capable of performing in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with mega projects (>$1 billion, P3 projects) is preferred.
