Job summary

North American Construction Group is seeking Ripping Excavator Operators for a remote mining site near Fort McMurray. The role offers a combined rate up to $54.86/hour, camp accommodations, and a 14x7 schedule with flying and bus support from Edmonton/Calgary.

This position includes union affiliation and extensive safety protocols. Work is on-site at Fort Hills with 12-hour paid days, overtime after 8 hours/day or 44 hours/week, and opportunities for growth within a strong safety-focused team.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years experience operating 120–150-ton excavators
• Ripping experience required
• 1+ year mining experience preferred
• Work in muskeg ground and rip frost above shovels
• Follow safety and operating procedures
• Fluent in English (verbal and written)
• Safety-focused and well organized
• Fitness-to-work testing
• CSO or BSO certification
• Silica awareness training
• Wood Buffalo wildlife awareness
• Valid Class 5 driver's license

Responsibilities

• Operate various sizes and models of excavators as required
• Read stakes and place grades as needed
• Comply with safety policies and procedures
• Use PPE and safety equipment
• Review safe work plans and hazard assessments before work
• Perform equipment checks and risk assessments; ensure equipment runs properly
• Report repairs to maintenance or supervisors immediately
• Report incidents or near misses promptly
