Job summary

Freeport Recreation Center is seeking a Part-Time Rink Guard to patrol the rink, maintain order and observe unsafe conditions. You will administer first aid per standard methods and guide beginners in skating fundamentals.

You will also keep records and prepare reports on hazards and accidents to support a safe environment. Applicants must be 17 or older, have strong skating skills, knowledge of first aid, and, ideally, hockey familiarity.

Qualifications

• Must be 17 years of age or older.
• Strong skating ability.
• Knowledge of first aid techniques.
• Knowledge of hockey is a plus.
• Ability to manage and organize patrons at the rink.

Rink Guard Part-Time

Part‑Time position only. Patrols rink to maintain order and to observe unsafe conditions. Administers first aid in accordance with established first aid methods and techniques. Gives instructions to beginners on the fundamentals of skating. Keeps records and prepares reports including reports on hazardous conditions and accidents.

Qualifications

• Must be 17 years of age prior to appointment and demonstrate ability in skating.
• Considerable knowledge of the fundamentals of ice skating.
• Considerable knowledge of first aid techniques.
• Knowledge of hockey a plus.
• Ability to establish and maintain the orderly participation of patrons.
• Ability to react quickly in an emergency.

Special Requirements

Applicant must procure American Red Cross First Aid Certificate within thirty (30) days of start of employment.
