Job summary

Canlan Ice Sports is seeking a Public Skate Attendant to join our Langley facility. You will assist with skate rentals, provide friendly customer service, and help supervise Public Skate sessions to maintain a safe, enjoyable environment.

The role requires excellent communication with children and adults, the ability to work evenings and weekends, and a proactive approach to safety and cleanliness in a fast-paced arena setting.

Qualifications

• Proficient ice skater with ability to skate well in a public setting.
• Customer service experience relevant to public-facing roles.
• Strong communication skills for diverse groups (children and adults).
• Adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in ice arenas or with hockey/figure skating is a plus.

Responsibilities

Rate of Pay: $18.25/ hour

JOB SUMMARY

Canlan Ice Sports is currently looking for Public Skate Attendant.

We are looking for Public Skate Attendant who will be reporting to the Office Manager, the Public Skate Guard / Skate Rental Clerk provides customer service in person through the distribution of rental skates to participants of Public Skate Sessions. In addition they provide on-ice supervision of Public Skate sessions to ensure a safe environment for the public. Duties are conducted in a professional and courteous manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide customer service to all guests that come to a Public Skate session.
• Able to communicate effectively with children and adults.
• Work independently as a member of our customer service team.
• Well informed about our birthday packages, special event packages and program information.
• Issue rental skates to users that have paid the appropriate fee.
• Review skates returned for required maintenance.
• Maintain a tidy, organized and safe work environment
• Supervise public skate sessions to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for participants.
• Provide support to the Events team for Special Events/Birthday Parties as requested.
• Cleaning facility as directed.
• Public skate session setup and teardown.
• Verification of wristbands for public skate admission.
• Miscellaneous other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS / SPECIAL SKILLS:

• Must be a proficient skater
• Enjoy working with the public in a customer service role, in all age/demographic groups
• Interested in working in an environment which is fast paced and always changing
• Adaptable and able to communicate effectively with both customers and staff
• Experience in ice arenas, relating to hockey or figure skating uses is an asset

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills (English), neat in appearance, professional in attitude and understands the sensitivity of confidential information
• Must be thorough, organized, articulate and punctual
• Must work well under pressure and pay particular attention to details
• Ability to work flexible schedules, primarily evenings & weekends, possibly early AM shifts for groups
