Job summary

Township of Esquimalt seeks two individuals for Skate Shop Attendant/Ice Patrol positions in the Recreation Centre. This auxiliary role supports skate rentals, admissions, and public information on schedules and facility rules.

Shifts commonly occur on weekday afternoons, with duties spanning safety oversight and incident reporting. Ideal candidates will have experience with the public, current First Aid and CPR-C certification, and a clear vulnerable sector check.

Responsibilities

• Distribute rental skates to patrons.
• Process payment for admission and rentals.
• Provide customer service and communicate with public regarding skating schedules, facility policies and regulations.
• Ensure facility policies, procedures, and regulations are implemented, ensuring the ice complex area is safe.
• Ensure proper documentation is completed for all accidents and incidents.
• Perform related duties as required.

The Archie Browning Sports Centre is a multi-use facility, which includes an ice arena, a six-sheet curling rink, lounge areas, and the Township of Esquimalt Parks and Recreation Administrative Office.

The Esquimalt Recreation Centre is a multi-purpose wellness and community recreation facility. Features of the Recreation Centre include: 4500 + square foot Wellness Centre, featuring state-of-the-art cardio and strength training equipment, gymnasium, aquatic centre with six-lane 25 metre lap pool, warm “lifestyle pool” and tot pool with spray features, wheelchair accessible hot-tub, steam room, and sauna. In addition, to recreation activities and programs, there are hundreds of year-round community programsto choose from.

About the Opportunity:

The Recreation Department is seeking motivated individuals to fill up to two Skate Shop Attendant/Ice Patrol positions, reporting to the Ice Programs Supervisor. This is an auxiliary position, and scheduled hours may vary, with shifts typically taking place on weekday afternoons.

• Current First Aid and CPR-C Certification

• Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills

Salary: $24.53 hourly which includes 14% in lieu of benefits
