Job summary

Mind Games is seeking an energetic Assistant Store Manager at Mayfair Mall in Victoria, BC to help lead our team, drive sales, coach staff, and ensure an exceptional customer experience in a fast-paced specialty retail setting.

You will collaborate with the Store Manager on scheduling, training, merchandising, inventory management, and daily store operations, maintaining a welcoming environment that celebrates games, puzzles, and pop culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field.
• 2+ years of management or supervisory experience in a specialty retail environment.
• Strong leadership and team development abilities.
• Excellent customer service and understanding of retail operations.
• Experience with opening/closing procedures, cash handling, and POS.
• Experience with scheduling, training, and coaching employees.
• Passion for games, puzzles, toys, and pop culture is a plus.

We're looking for a motivated and dynamic Assistant Store Manager to help lead our team and support the daily operations of our Mayfair Mall location. In this role, you'll assist the Store Manager in driving sales, coaching and supporting team members, ensuring operational excellence, and creating an outstanding customer experience.

Duties And Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Support daily store operations by scheduling, assigning, and following up on employee tasks.
• Assist with recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training team members to maintain a strong and capable staff.
• Coach, mentor, and develop employees, providing feedback and guidance to help them reach their full potential.
• Support the Store Manager in addressing employee performance issues when required.
• Assist in achieving financial objectives by monitoring expenditures, analyzing results and variances, and supporting corrective action when necessary.
• Build strong customer relationships by understanding their needs, providing exceptional service, and maintaining a welcoming store environment.
• Support sales and marketing initiatives by reviewing promotions, display plans, and operating and financial results to help maximize store performance.
• Support merchandising, inventory management, receiving shipments, and overall store presentation.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures, cash handling, register reconciliation, and POS operations.
• Support scheduling and day-to-day supervision of store employees.
• Help train and coach team members to maintain strong customer service and sales standards.
• Monitor store performance and support the achievement of sales targets and KPIs.
• Ensure the store is safe, clean, organized, and compliant with all company policies and procedures.
• Implement and monitor loss control practices to protect company assets.
• Assist in resolving customer concerns and escalated service issues.
• Support the Store Manager with other operational responsibilities as required.

You are best suited for this role if you have the following qualifications and skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field preferred.
• 2+ years of management or supervisory experience in a specialty retail environment.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and team development abilities, with the ability to motivate and support a high-performing team.
• Strong customer service skills with a solid understanding of retail operations and business management processes.
• Experience with opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and POS systems.
• Experience with inventory management, receiving shipments, merchandising, and stock organization.
• Understanding of store sales targets and KPIs.
• Experience with scheduling and supporting store employees.
• Experience recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, and mentoring employees.
• Knowledge of loss prevention, shrink reduction, and expense control practices.
• Ability to effectively handle customer concerns and complaints.
• Highly organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Ability to perform effectively during high-volume periods, including weekends and holiday seasons.
• Passion for board games, puzzles, toys, collectibles, and pop culture is an asset.
• Self-motivated, energetic, and results-driven.
