Job summary

Access Credit Union is seeking a Retail Lending Officer in Manitoba to evaluate personal credit applications and recommend suitable credit products. You will act as a Brand Ambassador, helping members with loans, mortgages, lines of credit and related services while building long-term relationships.

You will work with the loans processing team to ensure accurate documentation, adhere to risk policies, and support branch sales goals in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in customer service or sales is required.
  • Ability to identify sales opportunities and act on them in a professional manner.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills are essential.

Using advice -based sales, the Retail Lending Officer takes ownership of all the member’s needs promoting the full range of credit union products and services, building member relationships that add value and contribute positively to the credit union’s profitability.LendingIdentify member needs and sell a full range of credit union products and services, including loans and mortgages, lines of credit, credit cards, etc.Complete credit applications thoroughly ensuring that all relevant information is included and analyzed in supporting recommendations within established limits and procedures.Communicate to the member all terms and conditions of any credit, product being presented, ensuring that all products sold are consistent with the member’s needs and risk tolerance.Ensure instructions outlining the conditions of lending products clearly laid out (loan type, interest rate, security, searches, liens, etc.).Maintain thorough knowledge of and adhere to credit union policies and procedures on risk management, confidentiality, security and fraud prevention.Work directly with the loans processing department to ensure timely and accurate administration of documentation.Control loan delinquency through communication with the member prior and subsequent to the loan being granted. Maintain and document a systematic collection procedure for early identification and follow up of problem accounts.Relationship ManagementOperates as the primary contact for assigned members, managing the relationships on behalf of the credit union to ensure the members’ needs are met and the relationship remains profitable.Pro-actively work to retain and expand existing member relationships, while pursuing new sources of business.Responsible for resolutions of member concerns and escalating when required to the appropriate person or department.Refer qualified prospects to specialist within the credit union.Team WorkProvide input into the development of and support the achievement of branch sales goals.Actively participate in regular staff meetings providing input when necessary.Maintain open communication and cooperation with other staff to ensure a friendly and efficient work environment.Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve organizational and department objectives.Business Development & Community RelationsParticipate in and contribute to an entrepreneurial environment to seek out new business and referral opportunities that support the branch and organization goals.Pro-actively work to retain and expand existing member relationships, while pursuing new sources of business.Differentiate between credit union and competitor products and services in terms of member needs.Act as an ambassador for the credit union by being visible in the community through professional and personal involvement in various community groups and activities.This list is not inclusive and other tasks and/or responsibilities may be assigned by your supervisor.Essential QualificationsGrade 12 diplomaDiploma/Certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution with focus on business or finance or equivalent is an assetUnderstanding and adherence to relevant policies and procedures including but not limited to, the Privacy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, and Terrorist Financing Act, the Credit Union Act and Credit Union Loan PoliciesPrevious customer service and/or sales experienceDemonstrated desire to serve others in a friendly and professional mannerAbility to identify and willingness to act upon sales and service opportunitiesStrong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to work in fast-paced environment and perform well under pressureAbility to prioritize using sound judgment to make timely and effective decisionsAttention to detail with high degree of accuracyKnowledge of Access Credit Union’s products and servicesAbility to follow standardized policies and proceduresKnowledge of risk management within the financial industryProficient computer skillsEmployee Sub-TypeRegularStarting Salary$51,139.00Salary Band$51,139.00 - $62,594.00In most situations, candidates will be offered the starting salary for the position. In exceptional circumstances, and at the organization’s discretion, an offer may be made above the stated minimum based on factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and external compensation factors.
