Restoration Engineer

Location: Toronto, Hamilton, Kitchener, ON & Calgary, ON Flexible (Canada)

Role Overview

Our client is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Restoration Engineer to join their dynamic team. In this role, you will assess, preserve, and rehabilitate concrete and steel structures, combining traditional engineering methods with modern technologies. You\'ll conduct detailed structural assessments, diagnose issues, and design repair solutions that extend the lifespan of these structures while balancing historical preservation and current practices. Your responsibilities will also include collaborating with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to meet project goals on time and within budget.

What You Will Do
  • Structural Assessment & Repair: Conduct condition assessments and damage evaluations of structures, develop repair options, and design solutions that respect both historical and modern methods.
  • Engineering & Problem-Solving: Perform varied engineering assignments, solve field and design challenges, and implement repair designs with budget and time constraints in mind.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with architects, conservators, and contractors to meet project requirements. Communicate complex engineering concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Planning & Reporting: Participate in planning to achieve budget, schedule, and performance objectives. Prepare specifications, reports, cost estimates, and payment certificates.
  • Team Support: Assist with tasks and projects to support overall team success, while upholding company values of quality, client focus, teamwork, sustainability, and community.
What You Bring to the Table
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Applied Sciences, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, ideally in restoration engineering or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering, construction methods, deterioration mechanisms, and modern practices.
  • Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., Revit, CAD).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
