Job summary

Sheraton is seeking a Restaurant Server to deliver friendly, efficient, and accurate food and beverage service to restaurant guests in Ottawa. You will greet and seat guests, take orders, respond to requests, and maintain knowledge of menus, wine, and service timings.

Responsibilities include handling reservations, coordinating with the dining room team, and using Maitre D POS for orders and payments. The role requires Smart Serve and Food Handler certifications, with shifts including days,

Qualifications

• Smart serve certification required.
• Food Handler Certificate required.
• Previous serving experience preferred.
• Ability to work with little supervision within a team.
• Willingness to work day and/or evening shifts, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

Job description

Position Purpose:
The position of Restaurant Server ensures excellence in guest service by providing friendly, efficient and accurate food and beverage service to restaurant patrons.

Day-to-Day Operations

Greeting & seating guests, taking and filling orders, fulfilling guest requests
Answering phone and responding to any guest reservation
Acquiring and maintaining extensive knowledge of all food and beverage menus, methods of preparation, presentation, ingredients and service times including food, wine & service tests
Attend and participate in all pre-service meetings and scheduled operations meetings
Be prepared for his/her shift with appropriate cash float, notepads, pens and corkscrew
Responding to guest requests and concerns in a personal, prompt and courteous manner whether on the phone or in person Inform managers of any issues with guest service or satisfaction
Establish team rapport and promote team spirit to ensure superior guest satisfaction and an enjoyable work environment Inform guests of special promotions or daily special features
Knowledge of all services and facilities
Clear all tables properly and discreetly in accordance with service standards
Recommending beverages that compliment a meal
Being aware of services offered or special events in the Hotel
Performing necessary duties required for the efficient maintenance and day-to-day operation of the restaurant including cleaning duties and any specific task assigned by Dining Room Manager
Ensuring that all service areas are well stocked and kept neat and clean at the beginning and at the end of shift
Maintain friendly and productive relationships with team members and other hotel staff
Utilize the POS. system efficiently (Maitre D), accurately and effectively when placing food & beverage orders or posting payments
Ensuring that all beverage orders are punched in and that there are no verbal orders placed at the bar
Any other tasks as assigned by Food & Beverage Leadership Team
