Description of the job

Reporting to the Airbus Canada Head of (HO) Airframe Center of Competency, the Program Domain Leader (PDL) will be called upon to act as the interface between the Airframe Center of Competence, the Program Office and Chief Engineering team for alignment on objectives, priorities, budgets and plans. Within your Center of Competence, you will act as a Product Leader (e.g., Fuselage, Cockpit, Tailcone, etc), overseeing all the projects within your product domain.

In your role, you will be accountable for:

  • Cascading and coordinating the Program and Business objectives and translating them into operational guidelines for the center of competency and the specific functions.
  • Monitor engineering teams in terms of time, cost, budgeting and planning, in order to ensure that teams provide technical solutions meeting the objectives and requirements of the Program.
  • Manage the priorities between the different engineering changes on your product.
  • Establish an integrated product engineering roadmap, covering the key projects: project status, design and certification milestones, technical and programmatic risks, interdependencies, etc.
  • Manage the portfolio of risks and opportunities (technical, scheduling, costs, etc.) for your product.
  • Overseeing and aligning budgets, at macro-level, with programs in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders (Project Engineering, Engineering Business Management, etc.).
  • Lead operational trade-offs required in case of scheduling and/or budget conflicts for your product, in addition to actively supporting those at the aircraft level.
  • Manage escalations to the Program (deviations in plan and/or cost, supplier issues, etc.).

The position is based in Mirabel, Quebec.

As the ideal candidate, you will have extensive Aerospace Industry knowledge and experience, complemented by the following:

  • You have a Bachelor or Master University degree in Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • You have at least 10 to 15 years of experience in the Aerospace industry and at least 3-5 years of experience in Airframe activities, understanding the interactions between the design, stress and materials and processes teams.
  • You are versed in aircraft program development activities as well as sustaining engineering activities, having knowledge of Technical Requirements Documents (TRD), Statement of Work (SOW) and other requirements documents.
  • You are able to leverage your knowledge and experience to influence decisions for the best possible outcome.
  • You have a good understanding of the A220 business and its different processes.
  • You have experience in Project Management: Plans, schedules, challenging stakeholders and making sure the schedule of the plan is respected, identifying risks and mitigation plans and are able to find creative ways to achieve desired outcome, adapting to changing situations and emerging obstacles.
  • You possess strong interpersonal, planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • You take responsibility for expected results and maintain a high level of personal commitment in order to successfully deliver within deadlines.
  • You have good analytical, problem resolution and decision-making skills.
  • You have good oral and writing skills in English and French; able to simplify complex issues and summarize risks, key actions and next steps.
  • You demonstrate strong digital literacy with the ability to effectively utilize digital tools, manage and organize data, and navigate digital information to support business objectives in a modern, information-driven environment.
