Job summary

Halton Healthcare is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to operate and monitor life support equipment, perform diagnostic tests, and manage oxygen therapy across inpatient settings. The role requires critical care experience, BLS/ACLS/NRP certifications, and strong communication skills.

You will participate in quality assurance, teach staff, and collaborate with the health care team. Rotating 12-hour shifts and a competitive hourly salary are offered.

Qualifications

• Current registration with College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario.
• Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire.
• ACLS required.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Certification (NRP) required.
• Three years experience in critical care preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years acute care experience required for Milton and Georgetown positions.
• Experience working effectively in a busy clinical environment.
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
• Excellent leadership and problem solving skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Able to establish positive and supportive relationships with patients, families and other health professionals.
• Able to meet the physical demands of the position.
• Satisfactory attendance and employment record required.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor and maintain life support equipment such as invasive and non-invasive ventilators and anaesthetic gas machines.
• Perform inpatient diagnostic testing including spirometry and arterial blood gases.
• Initiate, monitor and discontinue oxygen therapy as needed.
• Respond to cardiac arrest codes and high risk births for airway maintenance and resuscitation.
• Perform intubation as ordered by the physician.
• Teach patients and staff throughout the hospital as required.
• Participate in departmental quality assurance activity.
• Comply with occupational health and safety requirements.
• Assist with departmental policy and procedure development and review.

Salary: $44.488 to $57.781 per hour
