Job summary

New Vista Housing seeks a Maintenance Technician to perform maintenance, repair, and groundskeeping across residential properties in Burnaby. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will tackle electrical/plumbing tasks, painting, flooring, and safety inspections to keep facilities safe and well-maintained.

The role requires effective communication, ability to work independently, and a valid BC driver’s licence. On-site work with a Monday–Friday schedule and comprehensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with tenants, staff, contractors, and the public.
• Physical capability to perform the duties of the position.
• Ability to safely operate tools, equipment, and machinery related to the work performed.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Working knowledge of safe work practices and occupational health and safety standards.
• Valid BC Driver’s Licence.

Responsibilities

• Performs general maintenance, repairs, and groundskeeping across residential properties.
• Carry out minor electrical and plumbing repairs.
• Paint, carpet, and perform grounds upkeep.
• Inspect systems and report deficiencies to the Facilities Manager.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Move and transport materials as required.
• Ensure safety for tenants and staff.
• Support tenant safety by reporting hazards promptly.
