Job summary

Excel Society in Edmonton is seeking a Residential Coordinator to lead Direct Care staff, develop and monitor ISP and Wellness Plans, and ensure quality service delivery. You will supervise teams, coordinate budgets, and liaise with guardians, funders, and partners.

The role requires a degree or diploma in Human Services, 3+ years supervisory experience, strong MS Office skills, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

  • Applicable degree or diploma in Human Services.
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of persons with disabilities, mental health issues, brain injury, and dual diagnosis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that all Direct Care Workers facilitate a Wellness Support Plan or ISP for each client.
  • Respecting client rights to confidentiality, privacy, independence, well-being, and choice.
  • Providing emotional support and using problem solving and de-escalation techniques.
  • Keeping Program Manager updated on all issues with clients and staff.
  • Responding to emergencies and providing support to clients and staff.
  • Facilitating service delivery through leadership, guidance, and client advocacy.
  • Ensuring documentation is completed and submitted on time.
  • Attending client care planning meetings or ISP case conferences.
  • Coordinating renewal of educational and vocational contracts/agreements.
  • Planning and monitoring client funding renewal budgets.
  • Recording and monitoring site operating budgets to keep costs within budget.
  • Ordering and monitoring service delivery materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assisting in health and safety processes for community residences and programs.
  • Maintaining communication sharing process for all team members.
  • Providing direct client support as required.
  • Ensuring residences and program sites are clean, comfortable, and professional.
  • Facilitating monthly client meetings, staff meetings, and Leadership meetings.
  • Participating in Excel Society and/or Community Services committees.
  • Participating in development of Service Delivery goals and reports.
  • Completing quarterly goal setting meetings for employees.
  • Being a resource and positive role model for staff and clients.
  • Participating in on-call rotation and understanding on-call roles.
  • Developing site-specific roles for emergency systems.
  • Updating guardians, case managers, funders, and partners on client concerns.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring that all Direct Care Workers facilitate a Wellness Support Plan or Individual Support Plan Process (ISP) for each client.
  • Respecting client’s rights to confidentiality, privacy, independence, well-being, and choice.
  • Providing emotional support to both clients and staff and using effective problem solving and de-escalation techniques.
  • Keeping Program Manager up to date on all issues with clients and staff.
  • Responding appropriately to emergency situations providing support to both clients and staff.
  • Facilitating service delivery through leadership, guidance, clarifying expectations, and client advocacy.
  • Ensuring all appropriate documentation is completed and submitted by the employees within due dates.
  • Attending client care planning meetings or ISP case conferences as required.
  • Coordinating the renewal of educational and vocational contracts/agreements where applicable.
  • Planning, organizing, and completing all clients funding renewal budgets accurately and on time.
  • Recording and monitoring each work site’s operating budget expenditure to ensure costs are kept within the annual budget for any budget responsibilities as assigned by the Program Manager or Director.
  • Ordering/purchasing and monitoring of all service delivery materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assisting the Program Manager in implementing health and safety processes for each community residence and/or program.
  • Implementing and maintaining communication sharing process for all team members.
  • Providing direct client support to clients as required.
  • Ensuring that the community residence and/or program work sites are clean, comfortable, and professional.
  • Facilitating regular monthly Client meetings, staff "team" meetings and attending Leadership meetings.
  • Participating on at least one Excel Society and/or Community Services committee.
  • Participating in the development of Service Delivery goals, strategies, and reports.
  • Completing all required employee quarterly goal setting meetings.
  • Acting as a resource person and positive role model for all staff and clients.
  • Participating in the on-call rotation and understanding the roles, responsibilities, and expectations of the on-call system.
  • Developing and overseeing work site specific roles and responsibility expectations of the Emergency Response Safe Tracks, Active Care, and Catalyst systems.
  • Updating guardians/families, case managers, funders, and community partners on client concerns as needed.
  • Participate in the recruitment process.
  • Develop and implement behavior support plans and ensure employees do the same.
  • Provide on the spot feedback, coaching, and be involved in the discipline process.
  • Prepare and chair monthly staff meetings as well as participate in agency meetings such as the joint leadership meetings.
  • Provide onsite training when required.
  • Ensuring time sheets are completed and submitted on time.
  • Participate in abuse reviews.
  • Coordinate and arrange for new intake.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance Reviews.
  • Liaison with guardians, other service providers, medical professionals, etc
What We’re Looking For:
  • Applicable degree or diploma in the field of Human Services;
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience will be considered an asset.
  • Have considerable knowledge and understanding of persons with disabilities, mental health issues, brain injury, and dual diagnosis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
