Job summary

Developmental Disabilities Association (DDA) in Vancouver is hiring a Residential Care Worker (RCW) to support residents in a group home setting. The role focuses on helping residents meet physical, emotional, social, and recreational needs and to participate in activities of daily living.

The position requires 1–2 years of relevant experience, a related degree or diploma, and ability to work a specific part-time schedule.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in area directly related to supporting people with developmental disabilities such as Social Services, Human Services, or Education.
• 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, or related equivalent experience.
• Experience with, or training in, adaptive communication is an asset.
• Experience in supporting mental health and positive Behavioral Reinforcement preferred.
• Criminal Record Clearance
• Medical Clearance (able to perform lifts and transfers of 40lbs)
• TB Test Clearance
• Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
• Class 5 Driver’s License
• Valid First Aid/CPR upon start date
• Demonstrated competency in English written and verbal communication
• Eligible to work in Canada

• Enhance residents' quality of life through activities of daily living.

Schedule/Hours:Mon/Tues/Wed 08:30-14:30, Thurs/Fri 07:30-14:00 // 31 hours per week
Hourly Wage: $28.46 - $31.57 as per collective agreement

The Role:

Residential Care Worker (RCW) assists residents to live successfully in residential settings within the community. The position ensures the residents’ physical, emotional, social, recreational, economic, educational, and/or medical needs are met. The RCW assists residents by enhancing their quality of life through activities of daily living. The RCW works both independently and as part of a team, and demonstrates the ability to take initiative and effectively problem solve using sound judgment.
