Position: Resident Services Manager

Duration: Temporary, full-time

Southbridge Care Homes owns and operates several long-term care and retirement homes throughout many urban and rural areas across Ontario.

Since 1967, we’ve been building a foundation of innovation and success for operating long term care homes and retirement communities. We are redeveloping our communities so that we may continue to provide consistent, high-quality care for our residents now and in the future.

We are currently seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Resident Services Manager to provide leadership to the Nursing Team. This individual will ensure our residents receive quality care, a safe place to live and ongoing, respectful communication. The eligible individual will enhance the effective management of quality nursing practices in keeping with the standards and expectations set out by governing bodies, internal policies, and standards of care.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The implementation and evaluation of the nursing department initiatives and functions
  • Leads in the coordination and implementation of best practice and risk management initiatives related to resident care.
  • Effectively manages utilization of nursing supplies.
  • Maintains a system of care assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation at the resident and unit program level.
  • Maintains an active presence in mentoring staff while overseeing the provision of quality resident care.
  • Initiates investigative and corrective actions related to occupational health and safety; works with WSIB claims and return to work plans.
  • Works on special projects, reviews, and other initiatives
  • Assumes responsibility for the nursing department.
  • Supervise and evaluate daily operations within the nursing department, recruitment, scheduling, and ongoing performance management in accordance with the unionized environment.
  • Conduct assessments and subsequent care conferences with residents and their substitute decision makers to address changes in overall health
  • Perform weekly rounds with in-house physicians to facilitate communication and convey significant changes in health and wellbeing

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Appropriate current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse
  • A serving heart and a passion for caring for seniors.
  • Demonstrated experience with WSIB management and other aspect of Occupational Health and Safety
  • Experience with falls and harm reduction strategies an asset
  • Previous similar experience in long-term care an asset, with comprehensive knowledge of duties
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team, to prioritize tasks in order of urgency.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and comprehension skills.
  • Developed creative problem-solving skills to look at the “big picture.”
  • French speaking as asset, but not a requirement
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check completed within 6 months of hire date
  • TB skin test or Chest X-ray - completed within 1 year of hire date
