Job summary

Kiknu, Nova Scotia's first long-term care home on the Eskasoni First Nation, is seeking a Temporary Full-time Long-Term Care Assistant to join the Kiknu team. You will provide one-on-one companionship, assist with meals, recreation activities, and daily living support under nursing direction, in a residents-first environment.

As part of Shannex Incorporated, you will help deliver culturally respectful care, follow safety protocols, and support families while ensuring dignified services to elders

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education plus CPR/First Aid.
• Food Handler Certification or healthcare experience preferred.
• Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Available to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Spend one-on-one time with residents providing companionship and support.
• Answer call bells and redirect residents as needed.
• Support residents in recreation programming.
• Assist residents with eating under nursing direction.
• Perform light housekeeping duties for residents (bed making, linen delivery, cleaning).
• Screen temperatures and assist with entry monitoring.
