Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a part-time culinary team member to assist with plating and serving meals for residents, following individual dietary needs and proper temperature guidelines. You will support cooks with salads, breakfast items, and garnishes, and help maintain clean serving areas and equipment.

You will also participate in safety and infection control procedures, assemble nourishment carts, stock unit kitchenettes, and attend in-service education programs.

Qualifications

• Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker program per Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
• Current Food Handler's Certificate.
• LTC dietary experience preferred (0–1 year).
• Must be able to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to read and write English and follow simple instructions.
• Able to lift moderate to heavy loads.
• Available for days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Serve residents according to individual diets and temperature guidelines.
• Assist cooks with salads, breakfast items, and garnishes.
• Clear dishes, load dishwasher, and clean utensils.
• Stock and label dietary supplies and leftovers.
• Follow safety, infection control, and QA policies.
• Attend facility meetings and in-service programs.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
