Job summary

Sienna Senior Living is seeking a Resident Attendant at Aspira Wildpine Retirement Living in Ottawa, ON. The role involves building meaningful relationships with residents, supporting daily health and well-being, and contributing to a caring home culture.

The position requires six months in a similar role, First Aid/CPR, and strong English communication. You will work 4p-8p shifts on multiple days and may be eligible for benefits and professional growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of six months of experience in a similar role.
  • Current First Aid/CPR training.
  • Excellent command of the verbal and written English language skills.
  • Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team.
  • PSW/PCW certification or a 16-hour personal care course (to be completed within 3 months for SK homes).
  • PSW certificate preferred.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada or possess a valid work/study permit.
  • Must pass a Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Sienna Senior Living may use AI to screen applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Answers all resident call bells and door alarms promptly and provides courteous service.
  • Completes all aspects of resident care as outlined in the plan of care and care assignments.
  • Transports residents to and from their rooms, recreational activities, health office and dining room as required.
  • Completes laundry and housekeeping duties as outlined by assignments.
  • Deals tactfully and courteously with residents and families; reports concerns to the team leader.
  • Practices safe food handling techniques throughout all aspects of food preparation and service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You Need To Know
  • Minimum of six months of experience in a similar role
  • Current First Aid/CPR training
  • Excellent command of the verbal and written English language skills
  • Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team
  • Certification in Personal Support Worker or Personal Care Worker, or a 16 hour course that covers the provision of personal care and that is recognized by the department. If you don't have this, you must be willing to complete this course within 3 months of start date. (for SK homes)
  • Personal Support Worker Certificate is preferred
  • You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit
  • You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Sienna Senior Living may utilize artificial Intelligence to screen or assess applicants for this position
