Job summary

Sienna Senior Living is seeking a Resident Attendant for The Barrieview Retirement Residence in Barrie, ON. The role focuses on building meaningful relationships with residents and supporting their daily health and well-being in a fast-paced environment.

You will work with residents and families, offering a range of care options and activities to enrich daily life. The position emphasizes respectful, compassionate service and adherence to care plans and safety practices.

Qualifications

  • Six months minimum experience in a similar role.
  • Current First Aid/CPR training.
  • Excellent command of English (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Certification in PSW or Personal Care Worker, or willingness to complete within 3 months for SK homes.
  • PSW Certificate is preferred.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Willingness to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Sienna may utilize AI to screen applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to resident call bells and door alarms promptly.
  • Perform comprehensive resident care as per plan and assignments.
  • Transport residents to/from rooms, activities, health office, and dining room.
  • Carry out laundry and housekeeping duties as assigned.
  • Interact with residents and families with courtesy and report concerns to the team lead.
  • Follow safe food handling practices during food prep and service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will be a welcomed team member, working in a fast-paced environment where you will make a meaningful difference in residents’ lives. As a Resident Attendant, you’ll form a deep understanding of your residents and their living experience. You will build relationships with the residents and their family members, offering a variety of support options and program choices that enrich their daily health and well-being. As an individual and part of a wider team, you will be a strong contributor to the culture of the home, where the focus is always on helping residents live fully, every day.

  • Answers all resident call bells and door alarms promptly and provides courteous service
  • Completes all aspects of resident care as outlined in the plan of care and care assignments
  • Transports residents to and from their rooms, recreational activities, health office and dining room as required
  • Completes laundry and housekeeping duties as outlined by assignments
  • Deals tactfully and courteously with residents, residents' families and reports any concerns / complaints to the team leader
  • Practices safe food handling techniques throughout all aspects of food preparation and service
  • Performing other duties as assigned
What You Need To Know
  • Minimum of six months of experience in a similar role
  • Current First Aid/CPR training
  • Excellent command of the verbal and written English language skills
  • Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team
  • Certification in Personal Support Worker or Personal Care Worker, or a 16 hour course that covers the provision of personal care and that is recognized by the department. If you don't have this, you must be willing to complete this course within 3 months of start date. (for SK homes)
  • Personal Support Worker Certificate is preferred
  • You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit
  • You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Sienna Senior Living may utilize artificial Intelligence to screen or assess applicants for this position
