Job summary

Prevueaps in Saskatoon is seeking a Research Summer Student to support the Ultimate Yield research team. You will help maintain and evaluate research plots, collect data, and assist with agronomic duties to improve crop production.

You will work hands-on in the field, gain exposure to modern agronomy, and collaborate with a collaborative team. A post-secondary focus in agriculture is an asset, with driving responsibilities and lifting up to 50 lbs required during the season.

Responsibilities

• Assist the research team with in-field operations to establish and evaluate plots.
• Collect and manage in-field data; support office data management.
• Support agronomic duties including crop scouting, tissue and soil sampling.
• Communicate progress and help ensure deadlines are met.
• Collaborate with the Ultimate Yield team and cover other duties as required.

The Rack continually invests in local, independent research to support a sustainable future for farming. Our Ultimate Yield Program is an organized agronomic and financial farm management system designed to increase efficiency for our growers, built on foundation agronomy and a holistic look at every aspect of management that ultimately determines final yield.

As a Research Summer Student, you'll work as part of the Ultimate Yield research team, helping maintain and evaluate research plots and carry out agronomic research aimed at improving crop production. It's a hands-on opportunity to see how field research turns into practical recommendations for growers.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN & IMPACT

Research Plot Operations -Assist the research team with in-field operations, helping establish, maintain, and evaluate research plots throughout the growing season.

Data Collection & Management -Collect accurate in-field data and support office data management, making sure research results are recorded carefully and completely.

Agronomic Field Support -Assist the Ultimate Yield team with agronomic duties including crop scouting, tissue sampling, and soil sampling.

Team Communication -Keep team members updated on progress and help ensure timelines and deadlines are met.

Team Collaboration -Work closely with the Ultimate Yield team and pitch in wherever needed, including other duties as required.

• One or more years of post-secondary education with a focus in agriculture is considered an asset
• Previous experience in the ag industry and working with farm equipment is considered an asset

Requirements

• Valid Class 5 driver's licence
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs
