As we continue to expand our portfolio into new food, beverage, and personal care applications, we are looking for a Research Scientist – Product Development & Innovation to join our growing R&D team in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

The Opportunity:

As a Research Scientist, you will play an important role in the development, optimization, and technical validation of innovative natural ingredient solutions.

You will work at the intersection of chemistry, biochemistry, food science, and product development, focusing on designing experiments, interpreting data, developing new research approaches, and translating scientific findings into practical product solutions.

Your work will directly contribute to Chinova's mission of using nature to protect food and reduce food waste. You will help advance technologies that can reduce reliance on synthetic preservatives while supporting food safety, product quality, sustainability, and the circular economy through the upcycling of natural biomass.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and execute rigorous, practical experiments to advance new products, applications, and technologies.

Apply scientific thinking and creativity to solve problems, optimize formulations, and turn ideas into solutions.

Stay curious and explore new technologies, research, and opportunities relevant to Chinova's innovation pipeline.

Product Development

Translate scientific insights and experimental results into practical, commercially relevant product opportunities.

Support product optimization, application development, scale-up, and technical validation.

Work closely with R&D and cross-functional teams to move projects from concept to commercialization.

Data & Scientific Communication

Analyze and interpret data to make evidence-based decisions and recommendations.

Clearly document, present, and communicate research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Contribute ideas and scientific expertise to new research initiatives and projects.

Quality, Safety & Sustainability

Maintain high standards of scientific integrity, laboratory quality, documentation, and safety.

Follow and continuously improve SOPs, QA/QC practices, and laboratory processes.

Support Chinova's commitment to sustainable innovation, responsible science, and the upcycling of natural resources.

What We're Looking For

Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science, or a related scientific discipline.

Hands-on experience in a laboratory or R&D environment, with strong understanding of experimental design and scientific methodology.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills, with the ability to turn findings into practical solutions.

Experience in product development, formulation, food science, natural ingredients, microbiology, or applied research is an asset.
