About The Role

As ATB’s next Research Associate, you are curious, passionate about the energy sector, and eager to grow your career. You understand Western Canada’s economy and environment. You are a team player and eager to learn.

This position is based in Calgary, AB, at our Eighth Avenue Place building. No relocation assistance is provided.

Accountabilities

1. Develop understanding of industry trends for investment ideas.
2. Assist in preparing reports on industry trends and investment ideas, including writing, editing, and data presentation.
3. Conduct primary research from industry and financial sources.
4. Engage with company management to understand business operations.
5. Input and analyze data in financial models and create exhibits.
6. Maintain industry databases and spreadsheets, using industry-specific software.
7. Prepare marketing presentations as needed.
8. Coordinate with sales, trading, and other teams within regulatory guidelines.
9. Present to executives and stakeholders confidently.

Skills, Experience & Requirements

• Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics, or Engineering.
• Post-secondary education in Engineering or Petroleum Geology is an asset.
• Eligibility to enroll in the CFA program is required.
• FSA Credential is an asset; securities accreditation is a plus.
• Strong financial, technical, and writing skills.
• 2-5 years in Energy or Capital Markets preferred.
• Experience with Bloomberg, FactSet, and Microsoft Office; VBA is an asset.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects, and communicate effectively.
