Job summary

Raglan Mine is seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to support employees, managers and contractors in applying best practices. This permanent role reports to the Prevention Supervisor and emphasizes risk management, field inspections, and coaching for a sustainable culture of prevention.

Located at Raglan Mine Site in Nunavik, the role requires French proficiency (English a plus) and a strong background in occupational health and safety within industrial settings.

Qualifications

  • Hold a certificate in occupational health and safety management or a college diploma in environmental, occupational health and safety.
  • Have at least 5 years of relevant experience in health and safety, ideally in mining or industrial settings.
  • Solid understanding of applicable occupational health and safety laws and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively in French; English is a plus.
  • Possession of CoSS certification is an asset for on-site coordination.
  • Complete modular FMTM training (1-7) and hold an explosives permit.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and support teams in applying health and safety procedures and requirements.
  • Coach and advise supervisors to foster autonomy and risk management integration.
  • Participate in risk analyses and evaluate controls for proactive risk management.
  • Conduct planned inspections and preventive activities in the field.
  • Demonstrate leadership to foster accountability and a sustainable prevention culture.

How You Contribute To Our World

Reporting to the Prevention Supervisor, you will play a key role in supporting employees, managers, and contractors in applying best practices in health and safety. You will help strengthen the culture of prevention through active listening, collaboration, and the implementation of concrete and sustainable solutions. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Guiding and supporting teams in applying health and safety procedures, programs, and requirements.
  • Coaching and advising supervisors and managers in fulfilling their health and safety responsibilities to foster their autonomy and effectively integrate risk management into the planning and execution of their activities.
  • Participate in risk analyses, the identification of critical controls, and the evaluation of their effectiveness to support proactive risk management.
  • Conduct planned inspections and prevention activities in the field, analyze observed discrepancies, and support the implementation of sustainable corrective measures.
  • Demonstrate leadership on the ground and the ability to influence employees, managers, and contractors to foster accountability and the development of a sustainable culture of prevention.
Profile Required
  • Hold a certificate in occupational health and safety management or a college diploma in environmental, occupational health, and safety. Any other relevant academic training will also be considered.
  • Have at least 5 years of relevant experience in health and safety, ideally in a mining, industrial, or construction setting.
  • Possess a solid understanding of applicable occupational health and safety laws and regulations.
  • Be able to communicate effectively in French, both verbally and in writing; fluency in spoken and written English is a plus.
  • Possession of the certification required to serve as a health and safety coordinator (CoSS) on a construction site is a plus.
  • Have completed modular training (FMTM) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 and hold a general explosives permit (assets).
