Job summary

Canadian Royalties Inc. in Nunavik seeks an Environmental Technician for a long-term, rotating, 4-week cycle schedule. The role reports to the Environmental Coordinator and supports the Nunavik Nickel Project.

Mining experience is highly valued and priority is given to candidates with relevant mining background. The position requires a college diploma in environmental studies, strong fieldwork abilities, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

  • 5 to 8 years of environmental fieldwork experience in mining is preferred.
  • College diploma with training in environmental studies or related field.
  • Good physical condition to perform fieldwork.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Mining/industrial sector experience is an asset.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • French/English bilingualism is an asset for internal communications.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain inventory of material resources for all technical tasks.
  • Maintain databases to support studies and monitoring.
  • Coordinate transport of samples to laboratories and ensure integrity.
  • Be responsible for various measuring devices in the department.
  • Participate in field campaigns and regulatory monitoring.
  • Conduct visits and inspections for regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor environmental standards and contribute to corrective actions.
  • Coordinate rehabilitation and restoration of abandoned sites.
  • Perform all related tasks for the position.

Canadian Royalties Inc. is a private company, owner of large nickel and copper deposits in Nunavik.

Long-Term Temporary Position

The workplace is in Nunavik – Deadline to apply September 24th , 2026

The normal work schedule rotates over 4 paid weeks , as follows: 2 weeks of work (77 hours of work per week, 7 days per week) followed by 2 weeks off.

Mining industry experience is highly valued for this position, and candidates with relevant mining experience will be given priority consideration.

Your Responsibilities

The environmental technician reports to the Environmental Coordinator, with a functional link to the Technical Coordinator. His main responsibilities are as follows:

  • Maintain an inventory of material resources to perform all technical tasks (inventory, ordering, and receiving).
  • Ensure the maintenance of databases to support studies and monitoring required within the framework of the Nunavik Nickel Project.
  • Coordinate the transportation of samples to laboratories and ensure their integrity and reception.
  • Be responsible for various measuring devices in the department.
  • Participate in field campaigns, field reports, and carry out regulatory and internal monitoring.
  • Conduct visits and inspections to ensure regulatory compliance of operational and development sites.
  • Actively participate in monitoring compliance with environmental standards and regulations. Must report any irregularities and contribute to the development of solutions and follow-up on corrective measures.
  • Coordinate and monitor various rehabilitation and restoration works of abandoned mining sites.
  • Performing all related tasks associated with this position.
Qualifications
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in environmental fieldwork, gained in mining environment (a priority requirement for this position)
  • College diploma with training in environmental studies or any related field.
  • Good overall physical condition to perform fieldwork.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency in various MS Office suite software.
  • Experience in a similar position in the mining or industrial sector is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Due to frequent interactions with French-speaking team members, bilingualism (French/English) is an asset that facilitates and enhances our internal communications.
