Job summary

Michael Garron Hospital in Toronto is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to ensure the safe processing of sterile products and surgical instrumentation. You will contribute to high quality service by performing decontamination, reprocessing and sterilization for user areas.

The role requires MDRD certification and experience in an MDRD environment, with ability to lift up to 25 lbs and work shifts including weekends and nights. Join a team committed to safety and OHSA/AODA compliance.

Qualifications

  • One-year experience (within the last 2 years) working in an MDRD environment required.
  • Adheres to hospital's workplace safety standards pertinent to position.
  • Experience in assembly, prep and package, decontamination of surgical case carts/instruments/trays/equipment.
  • Able to demonstrate good decision‑making and problem solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lift 25 lbs repeatedly and push items over 50 lbs repeatedly.
  • Ability to work all shifts including weekends and night shift.

Responsible for decontamination, reprocessing and sterilization of equipment, supplies and surgical instrumentation.

EDUCATION
  • Minimum of grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of MDRD certification from an accredited college (completion of program within the last 2 years) required.
Qualifications

  • Experience in the functions of assembly, prep and package, decontamination of surgical case carts/instruments/trays/equipment.
