You will collaborate with engineers, project managers and clients, guiding design quality, managing timelines, and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly talented and innovative Senior Construction Architect to join their fully remote design team, contributing to exciting projects across South Africa, with key collaborations originating from Kimberley. You will lead the architectural design process, from conceptualization to detailed design documentation, ensuring projects meet aesthetic, functional, and regulatory requirements. This role offers the unique advantage of remote work flexibility while engaging with challenging and diverse construction projects. You will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and clients, leveraging your expertise to deliver exceptional architectural solutions and maintain the highest design standards in a distributed team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design process for construction projects, developing concepts, sketches, and detailed design documentation.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant building codes, zoning regulations, accessibility standards, and client specifications.
• Collaborate remotely with civil, structural, and MEP engineers to ensure integrated and efficient design solutions.
• Prepare and present design proposals, drawings, and models to clients and stakeholders for review and approval.
• Manage design timelines and deliverables, coordinating with other consultants and internal teams to ensure project milestones are met.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior architects and designers within the remote team.

Requirements

• Professional Architect qualification (e.g., B.Arch, M.Arch) and registration with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP).
• Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in architectural design and project management, with a strong portfolio showcasing diverse project types.
• Proficiency in architectural design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and rendering programs.
• Deep understanding of construction methods, materials, sustainability principles, and building physics.
• Exceptional creative design skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent remote communication and collaboration skills.
