Job summary

Cando Rail & Terminals seeks a Project Manager/Project Engineer - Infrastructure Development to lead end-to-end planning and execution of multiple capital rail projects across Canada.

This role reports to the General Manager of Infrastructure Development and involves managing safety, budgets, schedules, design, permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning, and progress reporting for railway infrastructure projects in North America.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent professional designation.
• Minimum 7 years of railway industry experience in construction oversight and project management.
• Experience leading teams and coordinating cross-functional projects.
• Familiarity with topographic surveying and track/road design.
• Proven ability to produce formal written reports.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end planning and execution of capital rail projects.
• Monitor consultant/contractor performance and prevent delays.
• Coordinate design through construction with budgets and timelines.
• Review engineering drawings for accuracy.
• Lead planning meetings and provide on-site supervision.
• Manage sourcing, tendering, and procurement for rail infrastructure.
• Maintain relationships with stakeholders and clients.
• Ensure safety, regulatory compliance and reporting.
