Job summary

PNR RailWorks is seeking a Project Manager to supervise and coordinate day-to-day rail construction activities. You will report to the Project Director and ensure tasks align with designs, budgets, and schedules while upholding quality and safety standards.

The role requires 3–5 years in rail or heavy civil project management, strong controls, and solid communication. Expect field leadership, client meetings, and collaboration across departments on localized work plans.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of project management or project engineering experience in rail/heavy civil construction.
  • Experience in rail transit environments and live track operations.
  • Proficient in project controls, baseline costs, schedules and material routing.
  • Familiarity with contract and subcontract documentation structures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; ability to work collaboratively.

Responsibilities

  • Review proposals and plans to understand timeline, budget, resources and staffing.
  • Develop execution plans outlining materials, equipment and subcontracting needs.
  • Supervise daily onsite activities and direct field staff.
  • Track workflow to meet milestones on schedule.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide technical assistance and baseline construction method recommendations.
  • Administer project financial tracking to monitor expenditures and estimates.
  • Manage contract finances, material usage and change orders.
  • Monitor subcontractor progress and verify work against contracts.
  • Review preliminary estimates based on proposal specs.
  • Coordinate with managers to plan phases and staffing.
  • Attend routine meetings with customers and stakeholders.
  • Gather updates to prepare status reports for management and clients.
  • Conduct alignment meetings on goals and safety needs.
  • Monitor site safety programs to maintain compliance.
  • Inspect workflows to ensure quality and productivity.

Position Summary

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
  • Review project proposals and plans to understandtimeline,budget,resource, and staffing requirements.
  • Assistin developing project execution plans outlining materials, equipment, and subcontracting needs.
  • Supervise day-to-day onsite activities and provide direction to onsite staff and field employees.
  • Track daily workflow and progress to ensure project milestones are completed on schedule.
  • Identify project bottlenecks or field issues and assist in implementing corrective adjustments.
  • Provide technicalassistanceand make baseline construction method recommendations to field teams
  • Administer project financial tracking systems to accuratelymonitorlive expenditures and cost estimates.
  • Assist with managing the financial aspects of contracts, tracking materialuseandchangeorders.
  • Monitor subcontractor progress and verify work performance against agreed contractual terms.
  • Review and verify preliminary project estimates based on proposal specifications.
  • Coordinate with department managers toestablishlocalized work plans and staffing for each phase.
  • Attend andparticipatein routine customer and stakeholder project meetings.
  • Gather operational updates to prepare clear written status reports for management and clients.
  • Conduct alignment meetings with field staff to communicate localized project goals and safety needs.
  • Monitor site-specific safety programs tomaintaina secure and compliant work environment.
  • Inspect workflows to verify that employees and subcontractors meet designated quality and productivity standards
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree: Undergraduate degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical field.
  • Industry Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of recent project management or project engineering experience in a rail or heavy civil construction environment.
  • Sector Context: Practical knowledge of rail transit environments, live track operations, and standard infrastructure construction practices
  • Competency in project controls, including tracking baseline costs, operational schedules, and material routing.
  • Familiarity with general contract and subcontract documentation structures.
  • Proficient software skills utilizing Microsoft Office suite alongside common construction management applications
  • Reliable verbal, written, and collaborative communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and data-tracking abilities.
  • Proven capability to make sound, localized field decisions and work independently within a broader project structure
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Frequently works outdoors at construction sites and occasionally works indoors.
  • Frequently stands, walks, climbs, balances, stoops, and crouches while negotiating work areas under construction.
  • Sits, reads, writes, and uses a keyboard.
  • May be exposed to harsh weather conditions including very hot and very cold weather.
  • May be exposed to loud noise.
