Zenbooks is a Canada-based, fully online accounting firm redefining how small and medium businesses manage finances. We are seeking a Payroll Lead to manage a portfolio of complex client accounts, provide leadership to 1-2 Payroll Analysts, and report to the Director of Operations.

You will ensure compliance across national jurisdictions and handle escalations with SME expertise. You will oversee full-cycle payroll processing, benefits administration, and year-end filings while driving SOPs,

Qualificações

• 5+ years of payroll experience, with proficiency in Quebec (US experience is an asset).
• 5+ years of experience managing year-end filings (T4/RL-1) for multiple clients.
• Hands-on experience with payroll systems like Wagepoint, Payworks, QBO, Gusto, and Humi.
• 5+ years in a client-service environment; comfortable managing expectations and resolving conflict.
• Ability to manage both a team and a personal workload in a remote-first environment.
• Must be located in Canada

Responsabilidades

• Client Payroll Processing: End-to-end payroll for a dedicated book of clients with 100% accuracy in salaries, benefits, garnishments, and taxes.
• Team Leadership: Supervise 1-2 Payroll Analysts, onboarding, and performance evaluation.
• Compliance & System Improvements: Maintain SOPs, update payroll software/workflows, ensure regulatory compliance.
• Audit Lead: Facilitate payroll audits with documentation and issue resolution.
• Client Onboarding: Lead onboarding of new payroll accounts and ensure first pay cycle success.
