Job summary

gaiia is hiring an IT Operations Engineer to own internal IT end-to-end, reporting to the CTO. You will build systems, automate repetitive tasks, and run access, device management, onboarding, and security/compliance programs across our remote team.

You will collaborate with Engineering Leadership and the Platform squad on SOC 2 and tool governance, while shaping the IT function as gaiia scales globally.

Qualifications

• At least five years of experience in IT administration or IT operations, ideally in a remote-first SaaS company.
• Automation capabilities with tools like Zapier, n8n, Slack Workflow Builder or Retool; comfortable with APIs and scripting.
• Hands-on macOS device management experience (Rippling, Jamf, Kandji or similar) and Apple Business Manager.
• Strong admin experience with Google Workspace, Slack, Notion and password managers.
• Security-first mindset with high-trust admin access; collaborative and service-oriented.
• Experience in cybersecurity and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, Drata, Vanta or similar).
• Software QA experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Administer SaaS tools: users, groups, licenses, billing and settings.
• Manage access and permissions: process access requests and maintain SSO and Google Groups with least-privilege access.
• Run onboarding/offboarding: ensure new hires are ready day one and departures are revoked with evidence.
• Own the laptop fleet: manage Rippling MDM and Apple Business Manager, deployments, OS updates and device issues.
• Be internal helpdesk: first line of support for teammates on laptops and SSO.
• Support security and compliance: SOC 2 evidence, access reviews, device compliance and vendor inventory.
• Build automations to reduce recurring requests and enable self-serve.
• Contribute to security and compliance topics with Engineering Leadership and Platform squad.
