Job summary

Health Shared Services, part of Alberta Health Services, seeks an experienced Lead for General Accounting to guide month-end close, capital asset accounting, and financial reporting. This remote role focuses on ensuring data integrity, policy development, and staff mentorship across the finance team.

You will coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, oversee process improvements, and provide technical accounting guidance on complex asset transactions throughout Alberta.

Qualifications

• Post secondary degree in accounting; CPA designation strongly preferred.
• CPA designation or equivalent considered with applicable experience.
• Experience with public sector accounting standards and large complex client reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with accuracy and timeliness.
• Oversee capital asset transactions, asset impairment assessments and related reporting.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
