Job summary

Origin, a forensic investigation firm, seeks a Fire Safety/Electrical Engineer in the Quebec City area to lead technical investigations into fire and electrical incidents. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, 5+ years of experience, and fluency in French; English is an asset. Travel within Canada and to the U.S.

is expected. You will document findings clearly and may testify in court.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• Member of a professional order in Quebec; 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Fluency in French; English an asset.
• Willingness to travel within Canada and to the United States.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations to determine the fire/equipment origin and cause.
• Perform tests, analyses and laboratory simulations to verify hypotheses.
• Explain conclusions verbally and in writing to stakeholders.
• Travel to fire scenes across Quebec (and occasionally outside Quebec).
• Serve as an expert witness in court when required.
