Job summary

Origin is a forensic investigation firm specializing in post-loss investigations across fire, electrical, civil, mechanical, materials, metallurgy, and chemistry. The mechanical engineer will lead technical investigations, collect observations, and determine incident origins and causes.

Role involves travel within Quebec and occasionally outside the province, with opportunities to testify as an expert witness and participate in firm growth activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline is required.
  • Member of a professional order in Quebec is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical investigations into origin and cause of incidents involving vehicles, equipment, or mechanical systems.
  • Gather data and observations to determine incident causes.
  • Explain findings clearly in written and verbal form.
  • Travel throughout Quebec (and occasionally outside the province) for investigations.
  • Serve as expert witness in court when required.
  • Participate in promotional activities and maintain professional network.
