Job summary

Jobgether is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager in Canada to lead a backend-focused team responsible for scalable Internet infrastructure and digital platforms. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience with backend development and production apps.
• At least 2 years in engineering management including people management and performance reviews.
• Strong programming experience with Python or Go.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs with FastAPI, Gin, or similar frameworks.
• Solid PostgreSQL experience including schema design and query optimization.
• Proven ability to design, build, and operate scalable services.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience managing delivery, priorities, and cross-functional dependencies.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
• Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools with proper validation.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers through recruitment, coaching, performance management, and career development.
• Own day-to-day delivery: planning, prioritization, implementation, releases, blockers.
• Provide architectural leadership and contribute to production code and reviews.
• Guide architecture for services and platform with senior engineering leadership.
• Translate business requirements into technical plans balancing roadmap and debt.
• Oversee backend services, RESTful APIs, databases, and integrations.
• Coordinate cross-functional delivery with Product, Ops, QA, and Design.
• Drive reliability, performance, security, and observability improvements.
• Lead incident response, RCA, and follow-up actions.
• Establish and improve coding standards, CI/CD, docs, and release practices.
• Promote AI-assisted development while ensuring security and quality.
• Define engineering metrics and monitor delivery quality and reliability.
• Foster technical ownership and coaching within the team.
• Communicate progress, decisions, risks, and priorities to stakeholders.
