Job summary

Smile Digital Health seeks an Azure Kubernetes Platform Engineer to design, deploy, and operate production-grade AKS clusters with a focus on security, reliability, and performance. You will partner with application, security, and platform teams to keep environments resilient and scalable.

Responsibilities cover cluster life-cycle, networking, CI/CD integration, observability, and incident response, with a strong emphasis on governance and automation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Kubernetes experience.
• Kubernetes internals: scheduling, networking, storage, RBAC.
• Proficiency with Azure PaaS services (ACR, AKV, Azure SQL) and troubleshooting networking.
• Experience with Helm package management.
• Terraform for infrastructure as code.
• Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD tooling.
• Container/cluster vulnerability management and remediation workflows.
• Bash and Python scripting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Act as SME for Kubernetes deployments, troubleshooting, and production issues.
• Design and deploy AKS clusters with private configurations and RBAC.
• Own health, scaling, and lifecycle management of production AKS clusters.
• Configure AKS networking: Azure CNI, internal LB, and ingress controllers.
• Integrate AKS with ACR, Key Vault, Azure Monitor, SQL, Kafka/Event Hubs, and private endpoints.
• Manage Docker deployments and Helm charts; maintain namespaces and quotas.
• Harden AKS environments with policies and image scanning.
• Lead vulnerability management and remediation with engineering teams.
• Contribute to Terraform-based IaC for Azure resources.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and GitOps (Flux/ArgoCD).
• Design observability using Grafana stack and Azure tooling; set SLIs/SLOs.
• Collaborate to optimize performance and right-size workloads.
• Contribute to DR/BCP planning for AKS workloads; participate in drills.
• Provide on-call escalation and post-incident reviews; document runbooks.
