Job summary

Kastech Software Solutions Group is seeking a hands-on Principal Azure Platform & Cloud Operations Architect to assess and enhance how production systems run on Azure. You will evaluate current operations, identify automation opportunities, and implement stronger patterns across AKS, networking, and deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years hands-on experience in cloud platform engineering, DevOps/SRE, or cloud operations with production systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure, particularly AKS, and production Kubernetes operations.
• Deep expertise in Azure networking and secure connectivity, diagnosing multi-layer issues across AKS, network and app boundaries.
• Proven IaC experience with Terraform (modules, state, environment consistency, safe rollout).
• Strong GitOps experience with Argo CD and Helm, understanding release strategies and controls.
• Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and automation (Azure Pipelines, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• Hands-on experience with Azure observability tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights).
• Proficiency in scripting/automation with Python and/or Bash/PowerShell.
• Strong problem-solving and communication, capable of guiding teams under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assess and improve Cloud Operations processes, automation, and guardrails.
• Own AKS platform architecture and operations, including topology, node pools, upgrades, scaling, and security.
• Lead Azure networking architecture and troubleshooting across VNETs, routing, NSGs, DNS, and gateways.
• Deliver IaC through Terraform with reusable modules and safe rollout practices.
• Advance GitOps and deployment standardization using Argo CD and Helm.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines across Azure DevOps/Jenkins/GitHub Actions with quality gates.
• Implement observability via Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
• Provide L3/L4 escalation and incident leadership, guiding triage and RCAs.
• Coach and unblock the Cloud Operations team, elevating engineering standards.
• Collaborate with Engineering, SRE, Security, and Delivery to align patterns and readiness.
