Job summary

Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC) is seeking a Release Analyst to manage and optimize the release and change management lifecycle across enterprise platforms. You will provide governance and technical oversight to deliver structured, stable deployments and collaborate with IT, vendors, and business partners.

You will lead incident and change workflows, perform formal ROM reviews, and maintain documentation and metrics to ensure smooth production deployments and alignment with business

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication to translate deployment risks into business terms.
  • Strong analytical ability to identify system dependencies and risks.
  • Experience coordinating release management processes and vendor interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Release Governance & Oversight: manage intake, triage, and prioritization while ensuring vendor deliverables follow change management guidelines.
  • Technical Reviews: conduct formal reviews of ROM estimates, COs, and vendor configurations.
  • Operational Coordination: lead incident, problem, and change workflows across ERP platforms to maintain business continuity.
  • Documentation & Metrics: maintain runbooks, procedures, and deployment metrics.
  • Strategic Collaboration: facilitate workshops to drive stakeholder consensus on fixes and assess impacts across processes and systems.
  • Project Management & Mentorship: define project scopes, contribute to SOWs, mentor team members on release management.

ABOUT INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES

IT proudly provides the computer systems, security, IT services and governance that support AGLC’s businesses, including the operation & support of mission critical gaming, liquor and corporate systems running on a variety of computing platforms. IT ensures the stability and performance of a Local/Wide Area Network, which supports over 1,200 gaming locations and more than 2,000 computers/tablets, 150 physical and 2,000 virtual servers distributed across six corporate offices, casinos, RECs and bingo halls. IT provides leadership in the use of information technology, data and systems to help the AGLC achieve business goals and objectives.

Salary: $75,282.52 - $103,366.67 * The salary for this position is currently under review as part of AGLC’s broader Non‑Union Compensation review, which is intended to support alignment with market practices. Compensation details for this role may be adjusted following completion of the review.

JOB SUMMARY

Are you a strategic IT professional with a knack for orchestrating complex software deployments? Do you excel at bridging the gap between business needs, external vendors, and technical execution?

We are looking for a Release Analystto manage, coordinate, and optimize the release and change management lifecycle across AGLC’s enterprise platforms. Operating as a critical delivery facilitator, you will provide the technical oversight and process governance needed to deliver structured, stable deployments into production. If you have advanced critical thinking skills and the communication expertise to navigate alignment conversations between IT teams, business partners, and external vendors, this role offers an incredible platform for your career.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Release Governance & Oversight: Manage request intake, triage, and issue prioritization while ensuring all vendor deliverables and release activities strictly adhere to AGLC change management guidelines.
  • Technical Reviews: Conduct formal technical reviews of Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates, Change Orders (COs), and vendor configurations.
  • Operational Coordination: Lead incident, problem, and change management workflows. You will troubleshoot complex production incidents across multiple layers of the technology stack and support ERP platforms to ensure business continuity.
  • Documentation & Metrics: Maintain functional documentation, support procedures, and operational runbooks while monitoring production deployment metrics and interface logs.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Facilitate solutioning workshops to drive stakeholder consensus on sustainable fixes and perform comprehensive impact assessments across business processes, applications, and downstream systems.
  • Project Management & Mentorship: Consult with project sponsors and IT staff to determine project scopes, contribute technical expertise to Statement of Work (SOW) development, and actively mentor team members on release management procedures.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • A University Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, plus a minimum of 2 years of related experience. Preference will be given to individuals who have led projects. Recent graduates with the required technical foundation are encouraged to apply.
  • Exceptional communication skills to translate abstract technical deployment risks into clear business terms for stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor for platform support.
  • Advanced analytical capabilities to proactively identify platform issues, risks, system dependencies, and continuous improvement opportunities with minimal direction.
  • Ability to monitor, audit, and log external vendor hours against service level expectations to ensure effective resource utilization.
